Intro to Goldsmithing: Level 2

Take your goldsmithing skills a step further by learning how to mount a cabochon on a gold bezel setting. Get acquainted with new tools and techniques during this fun session happening at Studio 925.

Prerequisite: Intro to Silversmithing/Goldsmithing: Level 1 or any basic project-based class

All classes under Studio 925 were designed and written for instruction by Janina Arias.


PROJECT

MATERIALS

• 20 gauge 14k or 18k yellow, rose, or white gold

• 28 gauge 14k or 18k yellow, rose, or white gold

• 14k or 18k yellow, rose, or white gold wires

• semi-precious stone cabochon
  

TOPICS & TECHNIQUES

1. Recap of basic goldsmithing tools and equipment
2. Introduction to new tools
3. Proper measurements for bezel setting
4. Stone setting
5. Burnishing
   
   

DURATION

4 hours with flexibility to extend to 5 hours
